What size should my picture light be?

Pictures lights are ideal for creating extra focal points and atmosphere to your room as well as giving your picture the attention it deserves.

Lighting a picture isn't an exact science but these rules may help you back your decision.

The basic rule is to position the picture on the wall center at eye level - about 5 ft from floor level.

Landscape Format Pictures

Choose a picture light that is 1/2 to 1/3 the size of the picture, not including the frame.

Portrait Format Pictures

Select a picture light that is as close to 1/2 the width of the picture as possible, not including the frame.

If your pictures has a wider frame you may need to choose a slightly different size to ensure the correct balance is maintained.
